Hey everybody,
It’s Ted here.  Writing my first blog. Computers are not my strength, but I am doing my best to keep up with the ever-evolving aspect of being an artist in this modern world.  Communication is a powerful tool and that is one of the pro’s that the internet has going for it.  My goal is to make technology a friend so that it works for me rather than the other way around.  I refuse to let my life revolve around a tiny bright screen that sucks the life out of me and steals the natural world of beauty and birds chirping away.

I have been reading a lot lately. I just finished Tortilla Flat by Steinbeck. One of the things that struck me about this book is how owning things can be somewhat burdensome.  The main character, Danny, finds out that he has inherited two houses. He is a paisano: a poor California native -who was used to sleeping out underneath the pine trees and stars and it is a whole new level of responsibility that he undertakes. Our society is so used to seeing anything of monetary value as a positive thing and I think Steinbeck really touches on the cost of freedom and how the things we own truly end up owning us.  It is good to remember,  that life can be stripped back  to sleeping out under the stars and not knowing how or when your next meal will arrive but trusting in the day as it unfolds that you will be provided for.  Just look at the birds of the air. They neither sew nor reap nor gather into barns and yet they are provided for. How little we truly need to be content. LESS=MORE.

On another note…I have been INSPIRED and writing some new songs which is always fun.  I have a new  one called ‘Everything Goes Out The Window’  which is a love song  I wrote while walking with my guitar along a stretch of pacific coast from one surf break to another. It is about how unimportant everything else becomes when I am with My Girl.  “I got more than I could ask for—I got more than I can use…but everything goes out the window when I’m with you”
‘If I Was Your Man’ is another new upbeat number that I can’t wait to record with the band in the studio.  I am really excited about this upcoming album. The Single Helio  was just released April 3rd   (which happens to be my mom’s birthday) through itunes .  It is a new sound for me.  A little fuller with stand up bass  and flourishes of piano and electric guitar. It also marks the beginning of a new chapter  in that I am recording with Jeff Peters who is an amazing Engineer of sound. I am really happy with  the overall outcome and looking forward to sharing the rest of the songs with everyone.

Well,  looks like its time for me to saddle up…
Ill be writing these little snippets  weekly—or biweekly depending on what’s happening.
until next time…
Happy Trails,
